David Franklin M.B.A., Co-Founder

Mr. Franklin co-founded DCF Ventures in 2008. He graduated from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA where he was a Technology and Innovation Partner (TIP) Fellow, a Young Presidents Organization (YPO) Fellow, and a Deutschman Venture Capital Fellow.

Before business school, Mr. Franklin worked in Corporate Development and Strategy for DaVita, Inc. (NYSE:DVA) where he was responsible for projects directly assigned by the CEO. His projects covered strategy, operations, marketing, corporate finance, and corporate venture capital. In one instance, Mr. Franklin assisted with growing the DaVita@Home division from $23M to $105M in annualized revenues in seven quarters. Before joining DaVita, he worked for Accenture (NYSE:ACN) in their Business Management Consulting group. Mr. Franklin sold, as part of three member team, a $15M million annual revenue Supply Chain Transformation Project with multiple year extensions and then lead various strategic sourcing projects.

Mr. Franklin graduated with dual degrees in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering and dual minors in Chemistry and Economics from Duke University. While attending school, Mr. Franklin worked his way up to become CEO of a food delivery business, managing more than 90 employees and was able to post a 30% increase in profit over previous periods. He also interned while at Duke with Siemens AG (Energy & Automation R&D); General Electric Co. (Aircraft Engines R&D; Co-Inventor Phased Array Ultrasound US Patent #6,789,427); and Procter & Gamble Co. (Business Development).

An entrepreneur from the beginning, Mr. Franklin started his own landscaping company at the age of fourteen and successfully sold the company to a local competitor. Additionally, Mr. Franklin was also responsible for managing his father’s forensic engineering business, from accounts receivable to payroll until he left for college.

Jason Jolly, Partner

Mr. Jolly has over ten years experience working in the high-tech industry in HP’s Imaging & Printing Group, including six years in manufacturing and four years in R&D. Included in that time were two one-year assignments in Singapore and Israel setting up and leading manufacturing and product development teams. Some of the projects Mr. Jolly has worked on include thermal and piezo inkjet printing, high speed image processing, ink development, printing systems optimization, manufacturing process engineering, and production quality systems. HP has applied for a patent based on Mr. Jolly’s inventions and has retained several other innovations as trade secrets. Mr. Jolly has received extensive management training at HP, including courses in Negotiations, Accelerated Problem Solving, Project and Program Management, Leadership and Group Dynamics, and Finance.


Mr. Jolly has also been involved in the startup of an orange juice processing and distribution company in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. In his role as CFO, he built the financial and operational models for the business plan, located and acquired financing for the company, and setup the financial tracking and reporting systems. The company is currently operating at a profit, despite the economic downturn.

Mr Jolly graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and is a current 2011 MBA Candidate at UCLA Anderson School of Management
